Weeklys Media Group is now the owner of another newspaper—one that some Los Gatos residents may already be familiar with—the Los Altos Town Crier.

The transaction was announced by Los Gatan Executive Editor Dan Pulcrano on Friday.

“The Town Crier has a strong heritage and fits well with our other local community weeklies,” Pulcrano said. “We believe in print’s future amidst an increasingly messy digital environment.”

This brings the total number of the group’s weeklies to 16.

A separate company, SotlaSol LLC, has been set up to operate the publication.

Valley Water Director Rebecca Eisenberg files federal lawsuit

Santa Clara Valley Water District Director Rebecca Eisenberg (District 7) has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Water District, its Board of Directors, former CEO Rick Callender and former District Counsel Carlos Orellana.

The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division. It alleges that after Director Eisenberg raised concerns about gender bias and the District’s federal funding disclosures, District leadership and Board colleagues retaliated against her for nearly four years.

The complaint asserts 13 causes of action, including whistleblower retaliation under the federal and California False Claims Acts, sex discrimination under FEHA, First Amendment and due process violations, and violations of the Brown Act.

The Safe Corridor Initiative

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 6-7:30pm, representatives for Caltrans, the CHP, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, as well as San Mateo County Supervisor Ray Mueller, Sen. Josh Becker and Asm. Marc Berman are expected to be in a room together to discuss safety issues along highways 35, 84 and 9.

“Five years of reported collisions on these roads: 854 collisions, 26 deaths, 1,106 people hurt or killed. The twelve months to March 2026 were the worst on record. Two cyclists have been killed since—one at Four Corners in August 2025, one five miles south on Skyline in July 2026,” a Safe Corridor Initiative spokesperson said in a release.

“Through all of it—the study sessions, the advisory panel, the petitions—nobody has ever invited the families of the people who died here. Twenty-four of the dead were named in published reporting; the rest were never named at all. They are invited on the 20th and have no way of knowing it.”

Organizers are seeking to contact grieving families without intruding on their privacy, asking people who can help put them in touch to contact pe******@********************ve.com.

Lupin Lodge to host screening of “A Sexplanation”

Lupin Lodge is getting ready to host a screening of “A Sexplanation,” an award-winning documentary exploring sex, shame, science, morality and what it means to live a meaningful life, organizers say.

The screening is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, followed by a Q&A with Alex Liu, the film’s writer, director and producer,

Liu, a former health reporter for CNN, NPR, and NOVA scienceNOW, uses his background in journalism and science reporting to explore the ways cultural attitudes and shame shape how we understand sexuality.

“A Sexplanation” was named a New York Times Critic’s Pick and has received recognition from the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists and the LGBTQ+ Journalists Excellence in Documentary Awards.

“Sex can often feel like a shameful secret. But does it make sense to feel so bad about feeling so good?” Liu asks in the film.

The screening and Q&A offer an opportunity for the community to watch the documentary and engage directly with its filmmaker in a conversation about sexuality, science, shame and the questions the film raises.
