Folks began setting up their lawn chairs and spreading their blankets on the Civic Center Lawn as early as 11 am on Sunday. By show time, it was packed. Attendees knew that those “The Houserockers” would deliver an enthusiastic performance, and that the lawn would be full of rockers. And this 10-piece band did not disappoint. They brought their house party to our Town Hall exterior.
“The audience grew quickly due to the social media buzz,” said Teri Hope, adding that the Houserockers are “—a most iconic Los Gatos band.”
Vice Mayor Maria Ristow, there with husband Warren, said, “The Houserockers really bring it.”
She added, “This first of a six-week Sunday event is the epiphany of a Los Gatos family event.”
The Houserockers played favorite numbers with the help of a solid drum beat. Not too many could still sit on their lawn chairs. People leapt up to join in the rocking crowd dancing in front.
They played some of the greatest songs ever recorded. With a wailing five-piece horn section and a solid drummer, Sunday afternoon progressed into evening. Many in attendance were dressed to impress. And the weather was perfect.
July 26 – ESTERO – A psychedelic California-soul and roots-rock project fronted by Northern Californian musicians Eric Lindell and John Courage. Coming out of Sonoma Country they blend blues and deep grooves with guitar-driven sonic explorations. This event should be “far out.” Get your bong out and put on your tie dye to be groovey. See you flower children there.
August 2 – The Bent Peter Band – A high-energy Bay Area classic and alternative rock cover band.
August 9 – Lindsay and the Cheeks – A five-piece Americana act voted Lake Tahoe’s Best Band 2022 and 2023.
August 16 – Miko Marks – Oakland-based country and Americana singer, songwriter, and performer. She blends country, blues, rock, gospel and soul.
August 23 – Harry and the Hitmen – This band out of Santa Cruz County offers up classic Motown and soul to get the crowd jivin’.
Mark your calendar: Aug. 4 – National Night Out / “Dunk Your Mayor”
Hosted by the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department. Enjoy an early evening of promoting goodwill between the community and our local police department.
At this annual gathering you will have the opportunity to sink the mayor in the dunk tank. Other fun activities include: cornhole, blow-up batting cage, kids mini motorcycle rides, ice cream and coffee. 5 – 7 p.m. at Town Plaza Park.
Officials from the Santa Clara County Fire Department, Los Gatos Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Disaster Aid Response Team (DART) and the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Foundation will be in attendance.
Here’s how organizers put it online, “Together, we can build police and community partnerships and make our neighborhoods a safer and more caring place to live!”
