100 Year Anniversary Gala for the Kiwanis Club of Los Gatos

The Los Gatos Kiwanis Club is celebrating its 100 Year Anniversary on March 28 at La Rinconada Country Club, Clearview Drive in Los Gatos.

Dinner festivities, which start at 5:30pm, include wine, passed hors d’oeuvres and a dessert of cheesecake with salted caramel sauce.

The event honors the organization’s century of community service and helping kids thrive in Los Gatos—and beyond.

Chef Nick Difu, of Nick’s Next Door, is crafting the menu.

Beauté Bar Opening

Ofelia Ferere debuts her Beauté Bar salon, at 195 Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd., Thursday, April 4, 5-6pm.

Mayor Badame will cut the ribbon at 5pm.

Ferere and her team will be offering facials, waxing, permanent makeup, nail services, and more.

Los Gatos High School’s Cinderella Performance

From March 22-30, Los Gatos High School will be holding performances of Cinderella at its Prentis Brown Auditorium.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical features orchestration by Danny Troob, music adaptations and arrangements by David Chase, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and music by Richard Rodgers.

Cinderella is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization.

Tickets are available at LGHS.net: $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students.

Saratoga High School Students Plan Jazzy Evening

For the 2024 Saratoga Foothill Club Public Lecture Series, March 28, the Saratoga High School Advanced Jazz II band led by Jason Shiuan will hold “An Evening of Jazz” at the Saratoga Foothill Club, 20399 Park Place, in Saratoga.

The 7-9pm program features alumni soloists, as well as works arranged by students.

The concert will also include chamber music by a student-run jazz combo.

The Advanced Jazz II Band is the top jazz ensemble at SHS.

“All students in this ensemble also participate in one of the school’s core concert groups, such as band, orchestra, and/or choir,” a spokesperson said. “Each student musician must be accepted by audition. Over the years, this jazz ensemble has received high ratings at local and state festivals, and has been featured in local professional theaters, including Café Pink House and the Tabard Theater.”

Shiuan is the past president of the Santa Clara County Band Directors Association.
