Even though Los Gatos residents’ household expenses are 88.4% higher than the American average, the bills only account for 27% of income, according to a new report from doxoinsights.
The average household in Los Gatos pays $3,856 a month on bills—or $46,270 out of $168,829 in annual income.
Los Gatos is the 26th most expensive municipality in California, whereas Scotts Valley is 111th on the list.
According to doxo, a third-party bill-payment company, top service providers Los Gatos residents use are Pacific Gas & Electric, EDCO Disposal, Xtream Mediacom, Nevada Irrigation District, the City of Merced, Frontier Communications and San Jose Water.
Residents of El Centro, at the bottom of the list in the state at number 431, pay just $1,641 a month—but it accounts for 41% of their income.
The penultimate cheapest city is Wasco, at $1,724 a month, where this means residents are forking over more than half of their income for expenses.
Los Gatos residents pay an average of $3,791 toward their mortgage each month, an average of $2,647 in rent, $561 in auto loans, $317 in utilities, $63 in health insurance, $196 in auto insurance, $162 in cable and internet, $222 in mobile device charges, $101 to alarm and security companies and $110 in life insurance.
Californians’ bills are $9,498 a year higher than the U.S. average, according to the report.
