On Memorial Day, May 25, the Veterans Memorial & Support Foundation of Los Gatos will be one of the organizations helping to put on a free ceremony to honor veterans at the Flame of Liberty Memorial, at the Civic Center, located at 110 East Main St. in Los Gatos, from 12-1pm.

San Jose-based veterans nonprofit Open Doors to Future Possibilities, the event host and sponsor, will serve free meals to former service members upon showing official ID, before the ceremony begins at 1pm.

They will also sell lunches to the general public.

Attendees can look forward to a speech by retired Maj. Gen. Kent Hillhouse, who is a decorated US Army Vietnam War veteran. He’s also served as the president of the Veterans Memorial & Support Foundation since 2014.

“We invite the community to come together to honor the fallen and support the families who carry their legacy forward,” Ellen Manzo, a board member for the foundation, said in a release.
