Around 8am yesterday, the Santa Clara County Fire Department and the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department responded to reports of multiple fires in Los Gatos that were all located within a small area, authorities said.

By about 9am, a suspect was located on Highway 17 and arrested, with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol’s San Jose office, and booked into jail on suspicion of arson.

“There are no other suspects outstanding at this time,” a spokesperson for the SCCFD said on Twitter, adding the investigation is being led by SCCFD’s fire investigation team (which includes arson investigators from the Campbell Police Department). “We would like to reassure the public there is no ongoing threat to public safety. This swift resolution and arrest were due to timely reporting by community members, a quick response by patrol officers, and the ongoing collaborative relationships we have with our allied agency partners.”
