Alongside Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day is one of the highest-volume days of the year for many local businesses. And this year did not disappoint.

From Friday to Sunday, downtown Los Gatos and Saratoga Village were packed with festive folks. Many restaurants offered a special brunch and dinner menu.

On the Saturday prior to Mother’s Day in Saratoga, the “Saratoga Spring Wine Experience” was held. Kelly Medrano, Operations Manager of Commerce, affixed wrist bands onto participants in the chambers office.

Saratoga Village held its “Wine, dine and music,” tasting experience on the Saturday prior to Mother’s Day along Big Basin Way, in the heart of Saratoga.

Seventeen Members of the Santa Cruz Mountain Winegrowers Association proudly poured into the downtown area.

And on Sunday, brunches abounded in Los Gatos.

Zona Rosa displayed a big sign out front to welcome moms for a meal and a beverage or two.

Sunday’s Farmers’ Market was bustling. The crowd felt it was the place to go to prepare for a meal at home.

“Some of the vendors had their best day ever,” said Susan Campbell, manager for the market, which is part of the California Farmers’ Association.

David Lecoutre, 42, was there at Plaza Park with his 3-year-old daughter Rose. They got flowers for mom, with fresh strawberries, too. And they were planning to go for a swim later on.

The scent of their savory Mexican wafted along Main Street, mixed in with the freshly roasted coffee smell drifting out of Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Co.

At Parkside Restaurant, General Manager Adam Lewin stated, “This is probably one of our busiest days of the year for sure. We do a wonderful Mother’s Day buffet with a carving station. And dinner is really busy this evening. We feel fortunate that the people here in Los Gatos like coming and celebrating here.”

And in case you forgot to take your Mother out on Sunday, you could head with her—or a BFF—to the Tasting House for a very formal high tea (Friday or Saturday).

Teas are from France, and the sandwiches and pastries are divine. However, reservations are requested.
