Today at 1:40pm, a call came into Santa Clara County Fire Department reporting the new Porsche Service Center in Los Gatos had caught on fire, fire officials said.

Both SCCFD and Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police responded as dozens were evacuated from the building.

“There was no active fire when firefighters arrived,” said Erica Ray, an SCCFD spokesperson. “The fire suppression system extinguished the flames before their arrival.”

Ray said the fire broke out in the paint shop, noting black smoke was reportedly spewing out through the door. When the doors were closed, the suppression system was set-off, she said.

It was a dry chemical that took down the fire, Ray added.

“They did set up two hose lines, but didn’t need to run water on anything since there was no active fire,” she said.

Firefighters were still on the scene just before 3pm.
