Yesterday, a little before noon, Santa Clara County Fire Department firefighters from its Saratoga station responded to a vehicle fire along Fruitvale Avenue, in Saratoga.

“Firefighters arrived as West Valley Community Police were working to extinguish the flames with three fire extinguishers they had available,” a spokesperson for SCCFD wrote on its Facebook page. “Firefighters took over and got knockdown on the fire by 11:31pm and no injuries were reported.”

SCCFD’s Hazmat 72 unit from its Cupertino fire station was asked to deal with a fuel leak that resulted from the fire.

“Though the fire appears to have started in the engine compartment, the cause of this fire is undetermined,” the spokesperson said.

“Couldn’t afford the payment,” commented Facebook user Dino Davidson, not offering any evidence that this could be the case.

“So grateful no one was hurt,” added Los Gatos Councilmember Maria Ristow.
