The motorcyclist who died in a collision with a car on Watsonville Road near Morgan Hill on the afternoon of Nov. 22 has been identified by the County of Santa Clara Medical Examiner/Coroner.
Ramesh Sastry, a 68-year-oldĀ Los GatosĀ resident, was driving a Harley-Davidson east on Uvas Road toward Watsonville Road, around 2:45pm, with a 60-year-old female passenger along for the journey, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to an independent witness report, he failed to stop at a stop sign and began to turn north onto Watsonville Road, moving directly into the path of a Toyota Camry being driven south by a 41-year-old Prunedale man.
The front of the Camry struck the motorcycle, ejecting both the man and the woman from the bike.
The man succumbed to his injuries and died.
The woman, also a Los Gatos resident, was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries.
While the Camry driver wasn’t impaired by drugs or alcohol, police were investigating whether or one or the other could’ve been a factor in the motorcyclist’s actions.
