The recent Los Gatan article describing a scary chapter in Los Gatos history by Alan Feinberg jumped from the horrific 1960s plan to raise the Almond Grove District to the creation of the Almond Grove Historic District in 2008.

Unfortunately, this entirely omitted the several decades political fight over land use and development in Los Gatos, something which current residents should know about, particularly in light of the current state mandates which will destroy the charm and small town feeling of Los Gatos.

  1. The Honorable Thomas Ferrito and many of his colleagues fought for Green Space, Bike paths and many key elements that distinguish Los Gatos today. Tom was correct to point out those battles over land use and development in Los Gatos. This town has always been FEISTY with development for a reason: it makes Los Gatos unique. While we live in a town of significant affluence, the core of our town was built by people who could not afford to live here today and that is a tragedy. We are NOT a commuter town, although we have many commuters. We are a community that sticks together. “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it…” Let’s do the right “development” and contribute to our community.
