The Campbell Union School District will host its annual Art, Innovation, and Music (AIM) Showcase on March 11.
Organizers say it’s “an opportunity for students to display what they have learned over the course of the school year with their AIM teachers.”
At this year’s event, Santa Clara County D4 Supervisor Susan Ellenberg will present a proclamation to CUSD “for its hard work and dedication to science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).”
In addition, 10 student art pieces will be selected to display on the 10th floor of the County building, located at 70 W. Hedding St. in San Jose.
Congressman raises concerns with Iran strikes
On Saturday, Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16) released a statement, following America’s attacks on Iran.
“Every President who sends our women and men into battle has the constitutional and moral duty to clearly identify and explain the objective of war. “A dictatorial and murderous regime governs Iran. Yet Trump’s war on Iran painfully reflects an ignorance about the cost of war, and a myopia about those objectives.”
Liccardo said Trump justified last year’s attacks on Iran by claiming that he “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities, but said, by that logic, the current action is unnecessary.
“Trump urges regime change, yet no mere bombing campaign—no matter how horrific or brutal—can deliver that outcome,” he said. “In Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and even Venezuela, history shows that regime change requires a far more protracted engagement than the American public will support.”
Troops, allies and innocent Iranian civilians will suffer, and many will die, he added.
“Americans deserve the truth, and Congress cannot continue to acquiesce to the unconstitutional expansion of presidential war powers,” he said. “Congress must act immediately on a war powers resolution to reassert its authority under Article I of the Constitution.”
