Misty Davies
RESIGNATION ANNOUNCED - Davies' open Board seat will be on the ballot in the Nov. 3 general election, alongside seats representing trustee areas 3 and 4, as part of the District's first by-trustee-area election.

The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District (LGSUHSD) announced July 23 that Board Trustee Misty Davies would be resigning from the Board of Trustees, effective July 15, after almost four years on the body.

Elected in November 2022, Davies was involved in the Board’s selection of Superintendent Heath Rocha, who had previously served as the District’s Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Student Services. She also helped guide the adoption of the district’s ten-year Strategic Plan, called “We INSPIRE!”

Most recently, she supported the approval of the district’s comprehensive Facilities Master Plan, providing a roadmap for the future modernization of school facilities.

When first seeking election to the Board, Davies said she was inspired to serve because of her belief in the power of education to transform lives, stating, ”I passionately believe in giving students as many tools for success as possible, particularly a sense of self-worth and the courage to engage as learners and as advocates.”

In a release, Superintendent Rocha said Davies has been a thoughtful advocate for students.

“Her leadership helped guide the district through an important period of growth and planning, and we are grateful for the time, expertise, and dedication she has wholeheartedly given to our community,” he said. “On behalf of our students, staff, and Board of Trustees, we thank her for her service and wish her the very best.”

The Board of Trustees will discuss options for the Trustee Area 2 vacancy at its Aug. 6, Board meeting.

Information regarding the Board’s actions and any next steps will be shared during the public meeting.

As a resident of Trustee Area 2, Davies’ open Board seat will be on the ballot in the Nov. 3 general election, alongside seats representing Trustee Areas 3 and 5, as part of the District’s first by-trustee area vote.

Individuals interested in serving on the Board of Trustees can find candidate filing information through the Santa Clara County and/or Santa Cruz County Elections Department websites. The candidate filing period closes on Aug. 7.

Davies recently moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, according to her personal website.
