Just before 9pm tonight, primary election governor’s race results from Santa Clara County showed former congressman and former California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in the lead with 52,591 votes (29.27%), followed by Republican Steve Hilton with 40,627 (22.61%), then Democrat Tom Steyer with 37,081 (20.64%), then San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan 19,592 (10.91%) and Katie Porter 10,072 (5.61%).

The local results showed Fiona Ma, a Democrat, had 47,118 votes (27.48% of the vote) and was in the lead for lieutenant governor, followed by Josh Fryday 34,281 (19.99%), another Democrat, and then Republican Gloria Romero 20,272 (11.82%).

The Secretary of State race had Democrat Shirley N. Weber at 108,647 votes (63.89%), followed by Republican Donald P. Wagner at 54,016 (31.76%) and Green Party candidate Michael Feinstein (a former Santa Monica mayor) at 4,543 (2.67%).

Democrat Malia M. Cohen was in first for controller at 109,183 (64.05%), followed by Republican Herb W. Morgan at 55,430 (32.52%).

The Registrar of Voters said in a release that voters in line before 8pm were allowed to vote.

As the Vote Centers closed at 8pm, the Registrar of Voters’ Office (ROV) published the first count of 181,277 ballots cast, which includes Vote by Mail and Official Drop Box ballots received before Election Day. The initial results have been posted on www.sccvote.org and will be updated every 45 minutes on Election Night to add ballots cast in person at Vote Centers.
