This year, the most famous Irish celebration was hosted by an Italian restaurant.
Los Gatan reporter and proud Los Gatos resident Dinah Cotton headed down to Campo Di Bocce on Monday morning to capture the excitement of St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
In addition to meeting leprechaun Franklin Oliveira and Centerpiece Flowers’ Kelly Blough and Lauren Dunnett, Cotton took in the musical strains of The Sorry Lot, from Napa, who played traditional Irish folk songs—as well as some original tunes.

Johnny Hannegan led the Prince Charles Pipe Band performances throughout the day.
There was plenty of jigging and drinking.
As Time Magazine notes, it was in 1762, that the first St. Paddy’s parade took place in New York City.
But it wasn’t until 1798 that the color green became associated with the festivities.
That was the year of the Irish Rebellion.
At this year’s party in Los Gatos, Nate Underhill was bouncing around with his 35mm camera.

And on Wednesday, he reached out to the newspaper to see if we could include his photos with our digital coverage of the event locals love so much.
So, below you will find some of his black and white shots. And if you want to learn more about his photography, head to his Instagram page.
