The Santa Clara County Board of Education’s (SCCBOE) search for the next Santa Clara County Office of Education’s (SCCOE) next superintendent of schools is moving into an active recruitment phase after the Board of Education adopted a timeline and job description for the position at its Jan. 15 meeting.

The Board has been accepting input from its educators, staff and families as it develops a comprehensive candidate profile.

School officials say they’ve been committed to developing a profile of the characteristics, experience and skills desired in the next superintendent to ensure they reflect the needs and values of Santa Clara County.

“The next superintendent is described as someone who puts students at the forefront of decisions and possesses the ability to rebuild trust, inspire staff and create a positive work environment,” County Ed Board President Maimona Afzal Berta said in a media statement.

“The ideal candidate is described as a visionary leader and champion for the success of all students with extensive experience in educational leadership and a strong understanding of the unique dynamics and challenges facing Santa Clara County.”

The Board of Education plans to hold closed-session interviews with candidates after the application deadline closes on Monday.

“The Board will approve the next Superintendent of Schools at its Wednesday, March 19 meeting, in accordance with the adopted timeline,” Berta said.

Additional information on the search process can be found on the SCCOE website.
