Earlier today, the Town of Los Gatos announced San Dimas City Manager Chris Constantin will replace outgoing Town Manager Laurel Prevetti.
His start date is Nov. 4.
Constantin brings more than 27 years of government experience, including in city management, public safety, fiscal responsibility, education and community engagement.
As City Manager of San Dimas, he managed a city of similar size to Los Gatos with over $45 million in annual revenue, overseeing six departments and a workforce of over 200 employees.
According to Los Gatos officials, his time in San Dimas was marked by significant accomplishments, including resolving a major transit issue that saved the City over $30 million, addressing quality of life issues including homelessness and blight, modernizing city systems and processes, significantly enhancing wildfire and disaster planning, and enhancing public safety through community initiatives.
Constantin was one of 33 national finance leaders and academic advisors who participated in the Government Finance Officers Association’s Rethinking Budgeting Initiative. It was focused on new technologies and perspectives, and updated practices to better meet the changing needs of communities.
“Chris Constantin’s leadership will be a tremendous asset to Los Gatos,” Los Gatos Mayor Mary Badame said in a release. “His proven ability to manage complex issues, foster community engagement, and ensure fiscal responsibility makes him the perfect choice to guide our Town forward.”
San Dimas Mayor Emmett Badar and Mayor Pro Tern Eric Nakano congratulated the Los Gatos community on the selection of Constantin.
This man goes from one town to another leaving disaster in his wake.
Great hire for Los Gatos! I had the pleasure of working for and with Chris in Chico. His knowledge, expertise, efficiency, effectiveness, and care for the people of Chico helped take Chico from near bankruptcy, natural disasters and other operational strains, to a thriving local government. No doubt that he will continue to do great things for the Town of Los Gatos!
Robert/Jean Olander:
As long time San Dimas residents, we are sad to see Chris Constantine leave our City.
Over his tenure, he has shown an excellent financial stewardship including saving our City well over 30M dollars related to metro light rail parking. He brought forward “ My San Dimas” app allowing residents quickly to report and resolve a myriad of issues.
Chris helped rectify and update municipal code issues and he improved transparency within our City government.
Los Gatos has made a very positive hire. Good wishes.
Awesome for Los Gatos! Chris came to our city and worked tirelessly on developing sound budget policies… ensuring that our city would never again face a financial deficit such as what he found when first arriving in Chico. Chris is a great leader with a proven track record! It was an honor to work with him.
As one of Chris’s department heads in San Dimas, I can say that Chris is a stellar professional who really cares about staff and the community. I have worked for 8 City Managers throughout my career and Chris is the most knowledgeable, most experienced and the most effective leader I have had the pleasure to work with. I have no doubt that Chris’s talents will serve the City of Los Gatos well. We will miss him in San Dimas.
