The Santa Clara County Superior Court will discharge the 2022 Civil Grand Jury and impanel 19 new Civil Grand Jury members on Dec. 15, Presiding Judge Theodore C. Zayner said today.

The Civil Grand Jury, an arm of the Santa Clara County Superior Court, investigates governmental operations in Santa Clara County. Members are recruited by the court and nominated by Superior Court Judges to serve one-year terms.

“Grand Jury service affords citizens the unique opportunity to contribute to the efficiency of local government and to play an integral role in ensuring that the government is accountable to residents,” said Zayner.

The volunteer jurors serve as a civil watchdog agency under the California Penal Code.

The public is invited to attend the Discharge and Empanelment Ceremony of the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 4 p.m. via Zoom or in person at the Old Courthouse (161 N. 1st Street, San Jose).

The Discharge of the 2022 Civil Grand Jury will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the Empanelment of the 2023 Civil Grand Jury.

More information about service on the Civil Grand Jury can be found on the Court’s public website, www.scscourt.org/CGJ.
