Designer Christina Cree premiered a unique collection Saturday, during the 2nd Annual Scotts Valley Alfred Hitchcock Festival.
The sartorial celebration of the silver screen unfolded at the site of a former roller rink, which was recently turned into a 284-seat performing arts center by the Scotts Valley Community Theater Guild.
The show, which mixed clothing Cree created with vintage items, channeled the energy of the Edith Head-designed fashions from the middle of last century.
This runway showing took place after a screening of “The Birds” and before “Rear Window,” in the recently-renovated space on the other side of the hill.
Cree created new looks based on iconic starlet outfits, but also incorporated some avant-garde twists and vintage elements from brands like Reformation and Ivy Company.
Cree also gave an informative talk tracing the evolution of fashion in Hitchcock’s films, as he moved from Great Britain, found his residence in the Santa Cruz Mountains (through a tip from a Los Gatos High School grad), and made his undeniable mark on Hollywood.
